I received an email from Doug Lauson, retired Superintendent of the Catholic Independent Schools Vancouver Archdiocese, informing me that he had re-gifted the Byzantine Cross (which was gifted to him in 1985) to Archbishop Miller and the CISVA School Board upon his retirement. The icon is now installed on the 3rd floor of the new St. John Paul II Centre in Vancouver (just as you come off the elevator at the entrance of the School Board).
Doug had framed the icon and it accompanied him through his years with the School Board since 1985. It now stays with the School Board. He said that he would be taking a photograph of the icon in its new location, and will send it to me. I will post it once received.
The photograph was taken in 1985 when the Cross was gifted to Doug Lauson, along with an icon gifted to Marian Boyle. Doug Lauson was my Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas Regional High School prior to his departure to the School Board, and Marian Boyle was a fellow teacher.
