I dropped off the hardboard to a cabinetry place in Nanaimo, along with the templates from Alberta, to get the 4 panels cut (one with a keyhole slot). While I wait for those to be cut, I have to pre-shrink the mid weight muslin to prevent major pull on the hardboard when it comes time to adhering it to the thin hardboard. Because of the thinness of the hardboard, I need to use a medium weight muslim as a more secure base for the gesso and the icon itself.

I received confirmation today that I've also been commissioned to write 4 icons which will be inset into a refurbished tabernacle for one of the rural Ukrainian Churches in Alberta. I am looking forward to that project, and it will be great to writing these icons for the Ukrainian community in Alberta. Much of my early work and murals are in Vermilion, Derwent and Lloydminster. The Canadian Icon is also in Edmonton. It has been a few years since.
Father Jim Nakonechny has sent the templates for the 4 panels today and I've begun working on draft designs which I can adapt once I receive the templates.
Always happy to keep receiving commissions as I maintain the quest for sales of my paintings.
