First, thank you for your continued moral support in my painting and iconography. I’m in my fourth year of trying to support my son and I through my artwork. If he old adage of it taking 5 years to get established, I am hoping that I will soon begin to manage.
Following the unforeseen turn of events with the move to the Island a year ago, I’ve clawed my way to this point, reaching the edge of a financial log jam. I have had six paintings on consignment at a gallery in Chemainus for over two months, and am in the process of finalizing 2 icon commissions (also with a First Nations theme). But with no income coming in a timely manner acceptable to the bank and utilities, I’ve reached a point where I’ve had to approach Patreon in the hope that willing donors, who support and enjoy my work, would help keep me in my studio while working on Phase 2 of my 'Journeying With The Totems' series. Even though I have quite a number of viewers for my website, and many have seen my paintings exhibitions and commissioned icons, I do not have a strong network database. It is always the challenge for an artist, trying to balance what are basically two full time jobs, being in the studio and business/marketing.
My request at this time is primarily looking for assistance in getting the word out to those who are interested in my work, and asking for your thoughts and suggestions.
Thank you for your patience, kindness and consideration.
I received the news that the icon of Anne-Marie Martel will be unveiled and blessed during the St. Thomas Aquinas High School's 11am liturgy on April 25, 2017.
It is also expected that 15 Sisters from the Religious Order of Sisters Of The Child Jesus will be attending. Anne-Marie Martel is the Founder of this Order.
The icon was designed, based on the one original painting from the late 17th c.
Andre Prevost, began his work in theatre in the late 70s and in iconography in 1980 and has a large body of work in each. He has been based in Western Canada; North Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and now back in North Vancouver. He is also currently working on a series of acrylic paintings 'Journeying with the Totems' which will be featured in 2 exhibitions in 2015.
