I will begin the restoration of the gold backgrounds on the Sanctuary Icons at St. Edmund's Church in North Vancouver BC. It will be a 3-week project, which will also include the regilding of the Sanctuary Cross (trim and details). The scaffolding will arrive on February 24th and once installed, the project will be up and running. It will be completed on March 13th.
The icons were originally written in 1980-81. They were originally done with gold paint at the time. They have tarnished since, given the copper in gold paint. But considering their age, they have done well. The restoration will see them redone in 23K Patent Gold. The parishioners will see a dramatic change, after they adjust to having an unsightly scaffold for 3 weeks.
