Mar. 9, 2017 I'm still in a holding pattern for the next three icon commissions, while the design dialog evolves and funding becomes available. In the meantime, I compiled a video scrolling through a number of icons which are part of my body of work in Iconography. It isn't a complete presentation but does attest to the years of being blessed with commissions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oJsDddHs0c Aug. 28, 2016 My relocation to Vancouver Island, which started in October 2015, took much longer then anticipated. You may be unsure whether my studio schedule is open for new icon commissions or whether I would be available for mural work on Vancouver Island. I am most certainly ready to go. I welcome your questions and inquiries. The best way to reach me is through my Contact above, which goes directly to my email address. You can also reach me at 250-802-6082. I have voice mail should I miss you call. Looking forward to hearing from you. Andre Aug. 28, 2016 Photo Complilation I thought it best to also include the compilations which I posted on my Facebook page. They don't include all my body of work, nor many of the very early pieces, but present an snapshot overview. I am deeply grateful and give thanks that my hands have been used in the writing of these icons. The icons written for Monk Mattison in Calgary (2014 - 2016) Other icons written for clients in Calgary (2008 - 2015) Edmonton Icons written (1993 - 2015) Icons written within British Columbia (1980-2016) Iconostas in Descent Of The Holy Spirit Church, Derwent AB (1996-1997) (including he design of the Iconostas) Icons and mural written for St. Olga's Church, Vermilion AB (1993-1994) (Iconostas frame was built prior to my commission) Winnipeg MB Icons written (1987 - 2015) Aug. 26, 2016 In thinking about my body of work over the last 35 years, I prepared a few photo compilations of the icons, in Thanksgiving for the opportunity of having been able to write them. My continued hope is that I will be blessed with further commissions. The compilations can be viewed at: https://www.facebook.com/Icons-by-Andre-Prevost-1481502088774410/ Jul 25, 2016 My Email Address I found out today that my email was blocked as it had been used for spam mail in Brazil, Spain, and a number of other countries. My email provider was able to restore my email account with a new password. I gather that the change of password doesn't prevent this from happening again as any email address can be forged as though coming from you. But it allows me to re-access my account. So I've removed my email address from the Contact tab above, and the business card that was part of the Exhibition Handout from my past solo exhibits. But the Contact Form is still set up so that you can send me a message or inquiry. I can reply if you include you contact info, which remains private, in line with privacy regulations.
May 24, 2016 Studio open for new commissions The dust has settled from the big move to the Island, and with the larger 22"x28" icon of St. Thomas Aquinas being completed (and being delivered tomorrow), I am now working once again on a 11"x14" icon of Thomas Merton which I had started just before the move. This one will bring a new experience of using Palladium leafing. But while I work on the Merton icon, I just wanted to let it be known that the studio is indeed up and running and I am eagerly awaiting more commissions, large and small. I am also be available for church mural/ornamentation work on Vancouver Island. If you know of anyone considering a commission or project, I would appreciate the opportunity of presenting mys work for consideration. Apr. 7, 2016 The move on April 1st turned out to be hellish. We had to leave some important items behind as we ran out of space on the truck, and managed to get on the last ferry crossing of the day! It was 11:30pm by the time we arrived at our new home. My son and I slept on the floor that night. There has been so many things to take care and things that we need to replace now that we are in our mobile home. We are still surrounded by many packed boxes etc. I will be glad to be passed the point of unpacking and finally being able to sort out our new lives here on Vancouver Island. I am anxious to set up my studio of sorts. Storage is our main hurdle in the new place. But I am so looking forward to getting back to my painting. The piece and quiet here, and our small wood stove will be conducive to my artwork. I truly hope that the artwork will sustain the monthly expenses, over and above the housing, pad fee, and municipal taxes which my fixed income will cover. It is always an artist's catch-22 when one has to find employment, even when part-time. It inevitably limits the studio time. Feb 19, 2016 Why no recent blog entry? My apologies that I haven't been able to add an entry for the last few days. I have to prepare for my Opening Reception in Mission tomorrow, and I am struggling with an ever deepening problem of finding a lender that with approve me for a house and studio on Vancouver Island; even the bank who carries my current mortgage (TD Canada Trust). Once having sold my condo on the bank's advise and reassurance, it then told me on the day of sale, that it couldn't approve my next mortgage. The reason being my retirement fixed income and self-employment as an artist (my 2014 tax Net was too low for them, given that it was my investment year)! All of which it knew since last October! So to say that I am under extreme stress at the moment would be an understatement. I am now potentially without a home as of March 31st if I don't succeed in finding a lender as the clocks keeps ticking. Your support and prayers are greatly needed, Andre Feb 19, 2016
